Full Backyard Outdoor Living Build Underway in Troy

Big backyards come with big potential - but they also come with real challenges. Grading issues, unusable slopes, no defined living space. That's exactly what we were working with here in Troy. The homeowners had a large backyard that just wasn't doing anything for them, and we came in with a full plan to change that.

The first phase of any job like this is prep, and we don't cut corners on it. That means excavating properly, getting the base right, and laying the groundwork before a single paver or board goes down. The gravel base work you can see taking shape is what keeps everything level and stable years down the road. Skip that step and everything that comes after it eventually pays the price.

The retaining wall going in along the front of the space is a curved block wall - and that detail matters. A curved wall takes more planning and skill to execute cleanly than a straight run. It's not just functional either. It defines the space, creates a natural boundary, and gives the whole yard a finished, intentional look once everything else comes together.

Pallets of lumber are staged and ready for the deck build. Pavers are on site. Lighting is planned.
