Paver Patio Installation That Put This South Lyon Backyard to Work

A lot of backyards just sit there. Grass, open space, and not much to show for it. That was the situation here in South Lyon - a home with a solid deck and a ton of potential in the side and back yard, but nothing pulling it all together at ground level.

We installed a large paver patio that wraps the back of the home and connects cleanly to the existing deck stairs. The pavers themselves have a natural stone look in a light gray tone, laid in a staggered pattern with a contrasting darker border that frames everything out. It gives the finished surface a sharp, intentional look without being over the top.

One thing we always think about on installs like this is how the patio interacts with everything around it. Here, we kept a defined mulch bed along the foundation to separate the hardscape from the house cleanly. Fresh plantings were tucked in along the side of the home, giving the space some life without cluttering the patio area.

That's the thing about a well-built paver patio - it's not just about the pavers. It's about how the whole space comes together. When the border, the edging, the planting beds, and the surrounding lawn all connect the right way, the yard feels finished. Intentional. Like someone actually thought it through.

Pavers also hold up. No cracking like concrete, no rotting like wood. If a paver ever gets damaged down the road, you can pull it and replace it without tearing up the whole surface. For a homeowner who wants something durable and low-maintenance, it's a tough option to beat.
