Big job in Troy right now. We've got the full crew out here tackling a paver walkway, a block retaining wall, and a drainage system all at once - and we're making serious progress. This is one of those builds where every trade has to work together, and that's exactly what's happening.
The retaining wall is already taking shape with clean block courses running along the back of the property. Getting that wall properly backfilled is just as important as how it looks - if the fill isn't packed right and the drainage isn't there to pull water away from the wall, you're going to have problems down the road. We're handling all of that the right way.
The paver walkway is being laid with a compacted gravel base, laser level in use to keep everything true, and steps being set one at a time. It takes patience to do it well. Rushing the base work is how you end up with pavers that settle and shift after a couple Michigan winters.
The drainage system is being trenched and run alongside all of this so the finished product isn't just good-looking - it's built to handle water correctly. That's something a lot of installs skip, and it's usually why people end up calling someone to fix it a few years later. We'd rather do it once and do it right.
Stay tuned - the finished look on this one is going to be worth the wait. Full crew, full build, all the right steps.
