This yard had real potential - just nothing to show for it. Overgrown shrubs, an old deteriorating stone border, and zero usable space. That's exactly where we started. Before any design work or installation, we had to clear everything out and give the space a clean slate.

Demo day was a full crew effort. We brought in equipment to pull out the old stone edging and cut back the overgrowth that had taken over. It's not glamorous work, but getting the site right before we ever lay a single paver is what separates a job that lasts from one that fails in a few years.

Once the yard was cleared and graded, the design came together around how the homeowner actually wanted to use the space. The paver patio runs the full length of the back of the house - large format pavers with a dark charcoal border for clean definition. A built-up square fire pit sits right in the center of it, flanked by an Adirondack chair and plenty of room for seating. We also ran stepping stone pavers through a gravel section connecting the hot tub area under the gazebo, with low-profile landscape lighting staked throughout to carry the space into the evening.

The sod installation finished everything off. Fresh grass where there used to be nothing but weeds and bare dirt makes a huge difference. Clean planting beds line the perimeter with new shrubs and arborvitae for structure. The whole yard went from something you'd ignore to something you'd actually spend time in.

That's what good landscape design and installation does - it takes a yard that isn't working and builds it into something functional and sharp. If your backyard in Plymouth or the surrounding area is stuck in the same spot this one was, we know exactly how to get it where it needs to be.
