Pool Install with Retaining Wall and Landscaping in South Lyon

Here's what we were working with - a sloped backyard in South Lyon that needed a serious grade solution before a pool could even go in. You can't just drop a pool into an uneven yard and call it a day. The grade, drainage, and finish all have to work together, or you end up with problems down the road.

The retaining wall was the foundation of everything here. We built it using large segmental block, wrapped around the pool deck perimeter to hold the elevated pad in place. The corner detailing on this wall is clean and tight - that's not an accident. It takes real care in the layout and leveling to get corners that look that sharp and stay that strong over time.

Once the wall was set, the pool surround came together on top of it. The stamped concrete deck ties the whole elevated pad together and gives the space a finished, intentional look. Then we came in with fresh mulch beds and evergreen plantings to frame the edges and soften the transition between the structure and the surrounding lawn.

What we ended up with is a backyard that doesn't just look good - it functions correctly. Grade is managed. Drainage has somewhere to go. The landscaping pulls everything together so it feels like a complete outdoor space, not just a pool dropped in a yard. That's the difference between doing outdoor work and doing it right.

A lot of yards in this area have grade challenges that make pool installs complicated. Solving that with a well-built retaining wall, rather than just cutting and filling, gives you a result that holds up long-term and actually adds to the overall look of the property.
